Chengdu is a haven for spicy street food lovers. I relocated to Chengdu specifically for its culinary delights and have been enjoying Sichuan street food for the past three years. However, the hot pot I ordered, known as “TE LA,” took the spice level to a whole new level. As the hot pot arrived at my table in a local restaurant, I was amazed to see it filled to the brim with red chilies and Sichuan peppercorns. It was incredibly spicy! We are back in Chengdu to indulge in more Sichuan street food and will be embarking on a Chinese street food tour series throughout Sichuan. If you’re planning a trip to China, Chengdu is a must-visit destination for spicy street food lovers. While the hot pot restaurant we visited is a little outside of Chengdu, I recommend trying the same chain called Xiaolongkan 小龙坎, which can be found all over Chengdu. However, if you’re up for the challenge, you can visit the one we went to in Longquan.
