During your journey in Peru, what were three things that stood out to you the most? Peru is a captivating country with many surprises. Here are the top three things that left a lasting impression on me:

The Weather & Altitude: The weather in Peru, especially in regions like Cusco and Machu Picchu, was a pleasant surprise. The crisp mountain air in the Andes was invigorating, with temperatures ranging from chilly mornings to mild afternoons. It’s advisable for travelers to pack accordingly, with a mix of warm and light clothing to accommodate the fluctuating temperatures. Additionally, sunscreen is a must due to the high altitude and sun exposure in these areas.

People & Culture: The rich cultural heritage of Peru was evident in the local communities I visited. From traditional weaving techniques to colorful textiles, the indigenous people have preserved their customs with pride. One memorable experience was exploring the Chinchero Community, where I witnessed the intricate process of wool extraction and textile production. The warmth and hospitality of the locals made me feel welcome and appreciative of their traditions.

Safety: As a solo traveler, safety was a top concern for me. I was pleasantly surprised by the sense of security I felt while exploring Cusco on my own. The friendly demeanor of the Peruvian people and the tranquil atmosphere made me feel at ease wherever I went.

2. Machu Picchu is a renowned destination, how was your experience navigating the site and avoiding crowds?
Fortunately, I had the privilege of visiting Machu Picchu on a day with minimal crowds. Having an experienced guide was invaluable in maneuvering through the site and finding hidden gems away from the hustle and bustle. My guide’s expertise not only enriched my visit but also ensured I captured the best moments through photography.

3. What level of fitness is required for exploring Machu Picchu?

Exploring Machu Picchu involves walking for several hours to discover its wonders. However, there are shorter routes available for those seeking a more leisurely experience. A moderate level of fitness and comfortable footwear are essential for a visit to Machu Picchu. For the more adventurous travelers, options like the “Huayna Picchu” hike provide a challenging yet rewarding experience that requires a higher fitness level.

4. In the Sacred Valley, we support local organizations that benefit the community. What was your impression of these initiatives?

Visiting a textile center run by skilled women weavers in the Chinchero Community was a highlight of my trip. The warm and welcoming environment, coupled with the artisans’ dedication to their craft, left a lasting impact on me. Learning about the traditional techniques of wool extraction and natural dyeing was a truly enriching experience.

Being a food enthusiast, I thoroughly enjoyed the diverse flavors of Peruvian cuisine. From the zesty ceviche to the hearty home-cooked meals, every dish was a delight to the taste buds. The freshness and quality of ingredients shone through in every bite, making dining in Peru a truly memorable experience.
