London Tips for a Better Trip
The Basics
1. Remember your "please" and "thank you."
Brits are known for their politeness. While not always true, using "please" and "thank you" can go a long way. Also, if you bump into someone, apologize — even if it's not your fault. Everyone does it!
2. Keep your volume down.
Londoners are generally reserved, leading to quieter streets, transit, and eateries. Speaking loudly will immediately mark you as a tourist.
3. Don’t block pathways.
In this bustling city, people are on the move. Avoid standing in doorways or stopping abruptly to check directions. On escalators, always stand on the right to let others pass on the left.
Clothing
4. Bring comfortable shoes.
Expect to walk a lot in London. Comfortable footwear is key, and dress codes are typically relaxed unless you’re attending an upscale event.
5. Don’t forget your umbrella.
London weather is unpredictable. Be prepared for rain at any time of year.
